Three people have been arrested in connection with an interstate heroin trafficking operation in the western Upper Peninsula.
The trio were taken into custody last week following raids in Menominee County and Marinette County, Wisconsin.
An investigation by the Menominee County Wide Drug Enforcement Team and Northeast Tri-County Drug Enforcement Team resulted in the arrest of a 28-year-old woman and 26-year-old man on charges of possession with intent to deliver heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. A 21-year-old woman was taken into custody on a probation violation.
Their names have not been released pending formal charges from the prosecutor's offices in Marinette and Menominee.
Police say during the past four years, there has been a significant increase in illegal drug activity - specifically heroin - in the Menominee and Marinette areas.
