A suspect in last month's shooting in the Grand Rapids Arena District will face a number of charges and faces up to life in prison for being a fourth-time felony offender.

25 year old Rodney Scot Armstrong is accused of shooting two male teens, ages 16 and 17 on Ionia Avenue June 16. He is being held on a $750,000 cash/surety bond after a judge called him a safety risk.

Armstrong is charged with felony firearms, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and two counts of assault with intent to murder. As a fourth-time felony offender, Armstrong faces up to life in prison for the assault charges.

Court records show a 2009 conviction for third-degree criminal sexual conduct and a 2007 conviction for attempted second-degree home invasion, both in Grand Rapids.

A hearing in the case is scheduled for July 22 in Grand Rapids District Court.
