Is there a better way to run the Gerald R. Ford International Airport?
The Airport Board has hired a consulting firm to look at how the airport is operated today and how to move the airport forward for both the air carriers and airport passengers.
"We need to make sure that we are looking out to see if this is the best and most efficient governance model in the airport business."
Kent County Commissioner Roger Morgan tells WOOD Radio the airport is doing well today, but the consultants will take a closer look at the strengths, weaknesses, opportunity and threats to the airport, and consider representation from Kalamazoo and Muskegon counties.
"It is an Enterprise fund within the county. We are looking at possibly taking it to an authority to see if that will make operations more efficient."
The consultants are expected to present their findings to the Airport Board and Kent County Board of Commissioners by the end of next year.
