The Outdoor Discovery Center Macatawa Greenway in Holland will try to kill invading plants in the Macatawa Marsh, east of the River Avenue bridge, by burning the area out between 11:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. today.

The Holland Fire Department says smoke might cause a traffic problem.

The environmental center says Phragmites, Purple Loosestrife and Reed Canary grass hurt the bio-diversity of the marsh and reduce the wetland's water filtering ability.
