Grand Rapids Police recovered a body from the Grand River, downstream Sunday afternoon around 1:30

Some people fishing west of the I-196 bridge called the police.  Kent Sheriff's Dive Team helped with the recovery.

Detectives say it belonged to a black man in his 20s or 30s. They're not sure how long he'd been dead or even how he died.

He's described as 5'5" to 5'8" tall and weighed between 140 and 180 pounds.

The GRPD Major Case Team is investigating...and police are asking for any tips you might have.  Call the GRPD at 456-3604 or, anonymously, tip Silent Observer online or at 774-2345.
