The city of Grand Rapids experiments with a new way to feed the parking meters downtown.

Actually, the "parking stations" eliminate meters.

You memorize the number of the parking space where you left your car then go to a pay station to pay for parking, by cash or credit card.

City Parking Manager Kim Miller tells WOOD TV it appears to be easier for you and saves labor and money for the city.

The system will even call you if you're about out of time.  It also notifies the meter enforcers.

Miller will make a final determination on this experiment around the end of the year.
