The wreck involving two autos on an icy road as Friday's commuter traffic was getting underway killed four people.  Five others were hurt.

Michigan State Police tell WOOD TV the wreck occured at 6:45 a.m. along Apple Avenue between Newaygo Road and Waterloo Street. Muskegon County Sheriff Dean Roesler indicating six women were headed to an unspecified Kent County workplace and were in an SUV. 

Four passengers in that vehicle died at the scene, including 44-year-old Angelica Magana-Ceja, 34-year-old Erika Ceja, 34-year-old Teresa Alvarez, and 22-year-old Jessica Magana, all of Newaygo.

The other vehicle involved was a truck carrying three men who worked for a paint contractor. The on-scene investigation closed that stretch of highway for five hours.
