The Exodus Place homeless program for men in downtown Grand Rapids needed $37,000 to finish paying for its building and remain open after Tuesday night.

Exodus founder Robert Munger tells WOOD TV that carrying that much debt was like "carrying around an anchor."

Munger said got the last of the money Friday night so that the two-year program to help homeless men may remain in the old state prison half-way house along the river.
