Democrats hope to take control of the state House in next year's elections and have launched a major campaign to try to convince you that the Republican lawmakers raised taxes on poor people and retirees, and cut benefits like the Earned Income Tax Credit, while reducing taxes for rich corporations.

Now the Dems are trotting around a "Tax-O-Meter", with an ever-increasing total displayed in red lights over a picture of a fat-cat with money bags.

They claim it represents what they call a "tax shift" of $50 of tax burden moved from corporations to families every second.
