Allegan County Health Department ends the No Contact advisory for Bear Creek and the Rabbit River downstream to the Kalamazoo River at New Richmond.

The advisory had been posted after the February manure spill from a dairy farm near Hopkins resulted in what estimated to be a five mile long plume of liquid manure.

The Health Department  had warned of high levels of bacteria that could cause illnesses. It has been testing the river water over the past month.

Samples Monday resulted in Thursday's announcement.

However, the Health Department says you  "should proceed with caution".  The spring melt of our big snow this year may bring runoff containing livestock waste from any agricultural land.
